H All--new to the board and saw this forum. I have a 1989 16' CC. I have a 50 hp Johnson on it, a replacement for the 70 hp '93 Evinrude that came with the boat three years ago. I thought the 50 might not be enough engine, but it planes off nicely and stays on plane when I throttle back a bit. I love my McKee, although it does tend to be a wet ride if there are two people in the bow. I live on Long Island Sound and get out fishing quite a bit. The boat's perfect for nice calm days, and since I'm local I don't have to push the envelope on fishing in rough weather--I just wait for a better day :)

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

Re: Hi jeff

I to am a new member saw it the same way you did. I am in the process of restoring an early 14 McKee. Was able to buy hull and trailer for under $100.It still may be a mistake, because of the high dollar for parts. I am converting this craft with a rear fishing deck (undecided on platform) built in fuel tank and storage under same. A center consol was bought on Ebay , very satisfied . I am painting boat this month, trailer is completeed re-build. My plans are to find either a new or rebuilt 40 HP mercury. If you have information that I could use please let me know.

Would also like to say HI'' to the rest of the members and anyone that can help. Would like to keep the cost under control...

Hi Poolguy--

Can't say that I'm much help on restoration. My boat has had quite a number of wiring problems, but it's mostly because the guy I bought it from re-wired it himself. Best of luck though :)
