Coast Guard has a formula to figure out weight capacity based on hull dimensions. Be aware that weight capacity includes all passengers, engine, fuel, battery, etc.
Try the coast guard home page or search the forum for threads on weight capacity--it has been discussed quite a few times before.
Your state will also have a formula to figure weight capacity--they all do it when registering boats without a capacity sticker (that need one).
