High altitude jets for Mariner 150

Spring is in the air (about 70 and sunny here)and I'm getting anxious to start working on the boat!!! Sorry to those of you to the east!!!<br /><br />I'm currently running a MARINER (2.0L) V6<br />Serial Number: 06637205 Model Number: 7150725 on an 18ft bass boat. <br /><br />I've moved from around sea level to Colorado and will now be running at about 6000 feet. I've been told I need to re-jet my main jets about three sizes down (.001 for every 2000 feet) but have no idea what size jets are in the carbs right now.<br />Could anyone tell me what size main jets I should be running at this altitude? And what about the idle jets?<br />And finally, what range do you recommend my prop be in? <br /><br />Thanks in advance,<br />Bob

The reason I ask is my Carbs are #WH-29 and that number isn't an option in my Clymer manual!!! Two pages of carb options for my motor, and they didn't include the one's I have!!! <br /><br />Thanks again for any help anyone can offer.

I don't find WH-29 in my Mercury Manual either, but it says at 5000 th 7500 ft. down .004 0n the main jet, down .004 on the bowl vent, up .002 on the idle jets on V/6 engines Igeuss you will have to put the jets on the carbs. wish I could be more help--Bob

Thanks for the replies. <br /><br />Bill, what manual did you find the WH-29's listed in? They didn't make the list in the Clymer Manual & evidently the're not listed in the Merc manual either.<br /><br />And are all the jets the same size? I noticed a few set-ups had different jets for different carbs on the same motor.

I have 3 Merc manuals and the WH-29 is in all of them. I have the same carbs on my 83 150. Merc manual for V-135 thru V-225 with serial nos 5464486 and up, Seloc Vol III for 1965-1991 6-in-line and V6 and Clymer's B726 for 45-225 HP, 1972-1989. Hope that helps. And yes, all the carbs use the same jets.

Those are the sizes that were supposed to be originally installed for operation at 0 - 2500 ft elevation. According to the chart, for operation at 6000 ft you would go to .060 for both idle and main jets. Mains .004 smaller than standard and idle .004 larger than standard. Merc part no is 1395-6487 for .060 jets.
