I have owned my boat for almost two years (boat year is 2000, i bought it used), and when i test drove it before buying i seen and asked the dealership about the high oil pressure. 60psi idle and 80 above 2000rpm. Dealer said do not worrie. They have changed my oil now three time and each time i say i got high oil pressure, put in thinnner oil.... still always the same.

Well nothing bad has happened and i have drove it for over 50hours, but there is always a little voice saying that isnt correct. Any one else experence high oil pressure? Could it be a gauge reading 2x high? I am sure the marine has listen to my concerns and put in thinner oil, and would not stear me down a road of motor failure (i would like to think there are good people still out there)

Any insite? thoughts? Should i be worried and what corrective action should be done if any? Thanks

those pressure reading seem normal... i have the same boat engine and my reading are the same as yours...

its when you get too low that is really becomes a problem.

60+ sounds pretty good to me.

Ok if people say thats good then i believe you. I was basing this on motors in trucks, where 40 is pretty good, and 60-80 is high. Did not want to blow and gaskets or seals. Thanks

Same engine in a truck runs a little lower pressure, but is because it runs thinner oil.

oil pressure seems normal. if your really concerned and want a piece of mine i would get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and temperary install it in the engine where the oi pressure sender is and see what it reads. marine guages arn't that accurate :)
