I want to fit a Hi-Power alternator to a 4 stroke outboard. It would be an add-on with belt drive, to be used to charge the housekeeping batteries, while the existing charger will charge the starting battery.
It will be a dual installation on a sauling catamaran.
I wander if any of you has done it before or heard about it.
Keep smiling
Steve

Hi spiv
I've never done it, but the only thing holding you back is the room. Not alot of room under the hood.....

I agree with Schematic, if you know someone that can make you a custom motor cowling and some custom alternator brackets, you could probably make it work.

One other thing to keep in mind....I'd advise using a coged belt (like a timing belt) as it won't need to be as tight as a V-belt and won't side load the crank.

good luck!

Thanks guys,
Should I be able to find and fit the alternators, I would modify the engine cover to allow for the extra space required. :)
