Does any member know the part # for the high speed jet removal tool for a 1980 140 hp Johnson?

:)I've heard this one talked about before... Do you have a grinder? Your wore out flat head screwdriver is a good candidate for your new jet tool. Grind equally on either side of the blade until it fits. Hope this helps. A genuine JE shop manual for your motor will list the OMC part # for the tool in the section that covers carb overhaul. KR:)

The tool is part number 317002.

To make your own, start with a 3/16" round shank screwdriver (think phillips), cut off the business end and grind or file a new end as shown. The important thing is that the sides of the blade be parallel. Tapered sides like a regular screwdriver tend to spread the slot in the soft brass jet, making it tighter than ever.
