I am using a model 6002 6hp evinrude with a long shaft kit, as a kicker on my 1977 Boston Whaler Newport. It works fairly well, but I would like to find out if a flatter/bigger prop might work better. The prop is two bladed marked 8x7 1/4. This motor will just push a 12ft aluminium john boat up on plane with a 230# redneck at the tiller and about 8 gallons of water in a bucket set as far forward as it would go.

When I ordered the shaft extension kit, the parts guy said that Evinrude did not list one. Would an aftermarket prop exist for a motor this old or am I wasting my time?

I was going to grovel throught the parts lists and catalog at:
http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Literature/

to see if I could find a hint, but it seems not to be working with my firefox/linux pc. It worked a couple of weeks ago. I will troubleshoot that tomorrow.

Thanks for any assistance.

Well, duh. I had not even noticed that there WAS a separate prop forum.

Thanks!
