High vacuum warning switch usefulness?

On my 1987 60hp I had an issue a few days ago with the motor suddenly cutting power at high rpm and stalling at idle speed . I searched this forum and using the factory manual test procedures this morning found low fuel pressure from the VRO. (ignition checked out ok)

I'm weighing whether I want to replace the VRO or convert to a conventional pulse pump. Since the manual also covers the 65 hp commercial motor with a conventional fuel pump I have been looking at the 65hp parts diagram as a guide. The 65 hp has a vacuum switch (#0397904 @$40)to warn of fuel supply restrictions.

I have a remote canister filter/separator, I'm wondering if the vacuum switch would be of any practical use on my 60hp?

The pictures in the OMC manual shows it on non-vro models 65wmlb , 65wmyb and on VRO model 65wmlcu

Edited .....

I would post an image from the parts fiche but looks like the website name is blocked by iboats
