High Voltage Reading 1969 115 Evinrude

I have a 1969 Evinrude 115. I have installed a volt meter and the voltage is on the high side. It shows 16 to a little over. Along with this it has blown 2 pulse packs in a very short time. Say about 7 hrs. It has the standard stator and is not regulated. Could it have the wrong rectifier installed?<br /> Thanks for your help. Peter

The voltage is about right for unregulated system.<br />From what I've heard the battery CD amplifier are <br />easily damaged by a weak battery. How is yours?<br /><br />Other than that.. just guessing.. Checkout anything<br />that would open up the spark path. Distributer,<br />rotor, spark plug wires, connectors, coil.<br /><br />Let us know how it turns out,<br />Mike
