1971 60 hp checked my battery while engine was running got 16 volts. With engine off it it 13.5. this is an unregulated system, but is 16 volts ok? Just put a new expensive amplifier on and dont want to fry it.
I don't have anything else hooked to my starting battery. I run everything off a separate deep cycle. Did a search and found conflicting opinions concerning this high voltage in an unregulated system. Some say its fine others disagree, so I am confused.
