we just bought a Glascon ( Canadian built ), of what we think is a 1979. The boat was repainted above the water line and we can't find the HIN number on it either on the transom or starboard side. It does not have a DOT plate which show the capacity or HP for this boat either. Does anyone know where these might be. It does have the CCG/DOT registration numbers on it but I don't even know if these are valid or not.

Thanks in advance for your help

Welcome aboard Jim:

I'm not sure Canadian boats were required to have a HIN like US boats are. What does the paperwork for the boat say?

Jim,

Transport Canada keeps their records for an indefinite period of time, registrations used to be for life, but must now be renewed every 10 years. Just send them an Email (obs-bsn@tc.gc.ca ) or use the following contact information. Give them what you do have (old papers) and they should be able to help you.

Are you sure it is Glascon and not Glastron? Glastron is still a functioning company and you should be able to find a dealer new you to obtain the information you require.

I did find this on Glascon, but I am not sure they are even in business anymore:
