Hinge Pin / Housing Threads

I purchased the boat last year. It has a Alpha One -1.
I replaced the Gimbal Bearing & all bellows.
I had read the the Hinge Pins would be very tough to get out and may require some heat. I thought I was lucky as they came out with very little effort. When I went to replace them I found out why they came out so easy. The threads in the Gimbal Bell Housing were stripped (nearly useless). I was able to get the Hinge Pin to grab and used a lot of locktight but the U-Joint Bellows pulled off and now I have to go deep again.
Is there a kit or insert to repair these threads in the Housing? Would a heli-coil work?
I also seem to have a leak coming from the Transom and thought it was the bellows but the old bellows looked really good. The boat is a 87 Sea Ray Seville MB with a 4.3L. Any ideas/suggestions on the leak? The engine compartment on this boat is below the floor (very tight) and is tough to view things while running.

Re: Hinge Pin / Housing Threads

You need a new bellhousing. ebay is one possibility.

Shift cable bellows can also leak into the boat, as well as the exhaust Y connection. Best thing to do is FIND the leak first, then fix it. Don't start fixing what you THINK might be leaking.
