Hinge Pin Stripped

The left side hinge pin om my Bravo 1 has stripped and wont come out. The right one came out. How do I get it out and is the housing toast since its the aluminum threads that have strippef instead of the sstl hinge pin bolt?

I'm assuming that I can use a punch and knock the pin out from the outside through the starboard hinge pine therefore stripping what's left of any threads on the bell housing. I also see where they make 5/8"-18 stainless steel heli-coil for this application that I can use. I'm curious about the longevity of this repair? Also, it is a well known fact that stainless steel bolts will seize within their threads so I question the use of loctite on these pins and ask, why not use LIBERAL amounts of anti-sieze to keep from ruining a bell housing. Mine did not appear to have any loctite and I cannot see how these pins can come out without 100's of ft/lbs of torque turning them out. I'm just curious to hear what the experienced boat mechanics have to say about this situation? Any input is greatly appreciated.

You don't want to use anti seize
Use perfect seal on the hinge pins
Try using some heat on the pin

I ended up using a punch and a large sledge hammer to beat the stripped pin out of the port side of the bell housing. I will now use a kit that is available on another website that utilizes helicoils for about $60 in lieu of having to buy another bell housing for $450. You can drill out the stripped threads with a 41/64" drill bit and insert the sstl helicoils into the bell housing and buy new hinge pins and hopefully they will hold. It will save you $390 so it's worth a try.

If you do use the heli coil drilling that size hole in any material is a pain if it's not fitured square and secure. Also small amounts of anti sieze is all thats required if any at all a sealant will provide the same protection of re-occurance it's just part of the parts working enviroment! Good luck!
