hinge pin tool

Any ideas of where to pick up a hinge pin tool for my mercruiser aside from ebay or online shopping. Need it asap.<br />I've tried Canadian Tire and princess auto...no luck yet. <br /><br />Has anyone used just a hex head on the pins rather then the 12 sided head? i'm worried about stripping the pins with just using a hex.

I understand even the veteran merc mechs use a 1/2" allen wrench. (Or is it 9/16 ? Anyway, they use the allen wrench instead of the specific tool, so it must work okay). I already had the tool so that's what I use.

I have broken more of those special tools than I care to admit.<br /> I use a 1/2 hex stock about 2" long, cut it off a punch I bought from napa. been 9 years now and its battle worn but not broke.
