Presently the radar tower/arch is not hinged. Will not fit in garage.
Anyone ever added hinges to their arch? Wondering about labor and cost?? Any ideas where to get hardware.
Yes I realize it would be easier to raise the garage door header. =)
Thank you

I understand folks hinge these fairly frequently for boating in areas with a lot of low bridges.....some nice heavy duty stainless marine hinges?....

Not familiar with boat/model so I have to ask if it's a built in fiberglass unit or a aluminum tubular one ? If its a tubular one you can get a large tubing cutter and cut it at the appropiate height. Then have some 6" long tubes machined down to fit into the tower tubes, have them leave a 1/8 " lip in the middle of the connecting tube to hold it in place.Drill 4- 1/4 " holes through the upper and lower tubes on each side. Then get round headed stainless steel bolts with acorn nuts to keep it clean looking. That what I did with my tuna tower and it works perfect.

I have worked on only new installations of hinged radar arches. we add gas assist springs to aid in lifting the arch back into place. we also have a powered arch hinge. however each installation has been yacht specific. doing a quick google search, it looks like your radar arch has a knee bend below the windshield header height. this is probably where I would add the hinge point. google radar arch hinge. you will get plenty of hits
