OK true story. I try not to put my boat in the water during the Summer holidays here in Colorado as I find it much more interesting watching those who do. I usually hang out at the dock and help
out, grab a rope, push em off, gives me an excuse to be near the action. Well, this guy pulls up to
the ramp, new 18'Glasstron, apparently upset over
the wait and very impatient. He gets out and has the wife back the boat down the ramp while he gives directions. Like I said he's impatient and
starts yelling orders to the wife getting her nervous and jumpy (miserery loves company)"Pull
forward! Back up!!No!All wrong!!. She finally gets it close (bless her heart she WAS trying)
And he breaks the Cardinal Rule "Don't Unhook The Darn thing until it's in the water..."OK pull forward!!More,More,.Now back up!!Whoa!Dammit" She jumps, hits the breaks, and the boat comes halfway off the boat)about 6' from the water's edge, breaks the skag and takes a nice 5" chunk out of the lower corner of the boat. About 5 of us watching nearby help him get it back on the trailer enough to get it in the water and the rest of the way on so he can take it back home.
She was red hot and she let him know it Whew!
I never heard Sailors talk like that. Lesson!!Never yell at Mama when she's backing the boat up!!!
