hiw to break in a rebuilt engine

Whats the best and safest way to break in a rebuilt 1993 60hp johnsone?
i will be recieving my new motor on tuesday and dont want to mess it up.
any information would be great.

the rebuilder should give you instructions. 93 would be a VRO, unless you have disconnected it. on breaking the oil needs to be doubled. it's easier to use a portable tank, if you are using the VRO, in the portable tank, mix the fuel in tank 50-1. this doubles the oil, as the vro will be mixing also. the vro does not know the engine is being broken in.

if not using vro, mix fuel 25-1, break in is usually 10 hours of use. no wide open throttle for the first 5 hours, and no long time sustained running at a praticular speed.

yeah, it's a PITA, but necessary. follow the instructions of the rebuilder if he is guaranteeing the motor.
