My old 1990 Merc 4HP 2 strokes spits quite a bit of gaz by the exhaust. It looks awful at the dingy dock. It also runs poorly, i.e. doesn't reach his full RPM at full throttle. I had it checked by a mecanic and he couldn't not find anything wrong apparently. Gaz filter was changed, but no improvement. Any suggestion?

Have ever De-Carboned your engine? I would try that first. Get a can and follow the instructions.

Try some synthetic TCWIII and mix it 50:1. Check plugs, and check spark with a tester. Synthetic oil will for sure at least partially cut down on the crud.

unburned fuel can be from a variety of things

bad spark plug to a dirty carburetor.

if your mechanic checked it over and it still runs bad, find a different mechanic
