Holding Tank smell :-(

I replied to a post about a smell in their holding tank area. Here's my story. I bought this boat last year and it has a macerator pump in it as well already in place. My wife & I cleaned this boat top to bottom and it was spotless. The problem was there was still a smell that I couldn't put my finger on. Well I just uncovered the boat and found out why.

I had pumped out the tank before storing it for winter and thought just the sides of the tank were stained (sorry) but that wasn't the case. When I finally said "I'm ripping this whole system out and replacing it" I found that there was 6" or so of waste (sorry) left in the tank and wouldn't come out.

I've also taken out all hoses leading to or away from the tank and the smell is now gone away. So I think from speaking to some folks that it may have been a twofold problem. 1. There was waste in the tank. 2 the hoses were old. Here the theory. The hoses and tank were old. Old plastic tank absorbed the odor and you were never getting it out. The hoses were the same issue. They became saturated with the smell and bled through.

I think if you remove the tank entirely, replace all hoses to or from the tank and scrub the holding tank area, your smell will be gone. Replace the tank and hoses with new technology ones that hold smells from being absorbed into the plastic you'll have fixed the problem. Now to buy the tank and hoses for $300.00 Damn....

Re: Holding Tank smell :-(

Hey:

I just wanted you to know that I am a part owner in a company that rids odor completely in boats, cars, homes, dogs, cats, you name it. It is applied with a fogger. We fog the entire boat including the bilge. We pour 2 to 3 oz. of this solution into each sink leading to the holding tank, trying to make sure we fill the "J" fitting. We had to make a second application when the tank and hoses were old. I will be getting new material in a few weeks as I was hospitalze with a brain tumor. I'm very lucky!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know this product works and works so well we guarantee it. It will be under the new name of "Odor Solutions". Please pass it on to your friends as I am a new member to this forum.

If you would like more information please call me at 843-442-3626.

Safe boating,

Hey Thanks for the information!! For me it's a day late and I'm for now $161.00 short without hoses!

If you have a web site with this information on it that would be great also.
