This was a water cavity that could not drain that consequently froze and broke .There is a small drain hole about the 7:00 position from the fracture that plugged up and could not drain any residual water . The piece of aluminum should be near by the fracture if this happened recently

Between this and your other thread http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=525029 unless you have a lot of money to sink into that old a boat, it's time to run away.
Drives junk, transom shield is junk, Engine? rest of the boat? Trim system? Electrical? Wood rot in transom and stringers?
You better have a lot of reasons to want that particular 67 boat to ever be worth the money it's about to cost you.

Well I Hate to say I don't think so due to the fact that I am so inexperienced with I/O's, but I live about 50 miles north of San Francisco and it very rarely gets below 40 degrees.

But you are probably right because you guys haven't steered me wrong yet.

Since I don't have that part that fell What can I do?

Well I don't have Tons of money but I haven't decided to drop all the money on the this drive or buy a New one.

Floor does need to be replaced and I am going to do the Stringers. Once I pull the motor Ill test the Transom. Thats Friday.

Doing that will tell me what I am going to do with the whole project.

But for only paying 100$ for the boat and getting about $500 in free parts Im pretty sure I could part the boat out and sell the trailer separately and make $500 and for me I dont really want todo that.

I could spend $10,000 on a much better one but I wouldn't get the enjoyment of fixing my own. To me so far its like fixing my first car from top to bottom. I will learn what not to do and what to do now, and in 10 yrs when my kids want to ski or wakeboard and or fish Ill spend $1000 for a great running I/O and do hull work and so on.

That's not a part that "fell" off - that is something that has broken or corroded away. You can (and should) do what you suggest in your next post:

Im pretty sure I could part the boat out and sell the trailer separately and make $500

I'm willing to bet there is a happy medium in there somewhere. It sounds like there is literally NOTHING on your current boat worth saving. The only uncertainty so far is the engine... and with everything else you've shown and described so far, the chances are good that the engine is going to need a complete rebuild at the very least.

Your better bet is to find a newer boat sitting in someone's side yard that they no longer want. (And by "newer, I mean newer than 1967. Like a late eighties boat with an Alpha drive). You can certainly find a boat needing far less work than yours for the amount of money that you will be spending on this project.
