I have a 19ft sea nymph GLS 1988. I just bought this boat this winter and notice some corrosion on the bottom side of the hull. After seeing this i decided to remove the wood floor( which was waterlogged) and the foam floatation which also was very waterlogged. I found this corrosion which is strange because it is only in this one spot?? any ideas? You think this is repairable?

It didnt look this bad until I wire brushed the area and cleaned the white powder out of the holes. Area seems pretty strong, I am thinking of taking it to a welding shop to have the fab a stringer and weld a plate over this. On the outside I was planning on using marine-tex or should i have the welder sandwich the corroded spot.

The only way I know to remove the "cancer" is to cut it out and then fab a new piece and weld it in, auto that is. Marine may not be any different but the experts may have something different to offer. An experienced welder/fabricator should be able to help you.

That's some gnarly corrosion to eat clear through the stringer, is this where the battery is located? (Battery leaking acid + aluminum = bad situation)

I'll let the welders respond to the best way to repair.

Nope this is what I dont really understand Its located on the port side at the beam. I was thinking of having the welder remove it but wasnt shure the stringer will be cut off to where the corrosion stops and replaced
