I have a warranty issue on my 1996 Trophy 1703 that I was trying to get resolved. I have a crack that is forming on the cap that covers the top of the transom. I was concerend that my transom had become weak and that I need to get it looked at by someone who sells Trophy boats. So I called Bayliner up and the said to take it to Holiday Camper in S.C. and they would be able to tell me if it was covered. When I called for an appointment and explained my problem they said they would have to charge me to look at it if Bayliner wouldn't cover it. They said they couldn't spend time looking at a warranty issue if Bayliner wouldn't cover it. When I called Bayliner back and told them this they couldn't believe it! Now they are working on having someone look at it and said not to use Holiday Camper in S.C. I will never take my boat to HC ever again. :mad:
Apathy: If we don't take care of the customers, maybe they will stop bugging us.

Pictures are hear

Just to let you guys know what has transpired and I also wanted to tell y'all what U.S Marine (Bayliner) had to say about this forum. :mad:
Hi Again, Marshall!

I showed your photos to my two co-workers here in the Customer Service Department and we talked about it for a while. We believe that what you are seeing is cosmetic cracking to the trim piece. The only way to "fix" it is to take the trim piece off and replace it. However, to do that you must take the engine off. Further, the piece that you need we don't make any longer and we don't have any back stocked. In short, it would be very expensive to fix it if the parts were even available. We don't believe that the repair would be worth it to you. The boat is out of all warranty, either cosmetic or structural, and we would not be able to assist you with the repair cost.
Overall then, the problem is cosmetic and is not anything you should worry about structurally. If you would like to be put in touch with someone who could repair it, please let me know.
Thanks for your inquiry. I appreciate that you told me about the web
site, too. I checked it out during a little downtime last week. It is
always interesting to hear what people think about your product. I shared some of the insights with the service department. And I loved the "stupid people and their boats" thread. I think the one about the guy who shot two holes in his own boat was hysterical!
If you have any questions or concerns, please be in touch.
KD

<KDriver@usmarine.com>

Well trollhole,
I gotta agree with 'um. I looks ,to me anyway, like the cracks are cosmetic stuff and not structual damage. Looks like that transom cap is molded ABS and not FRP (fiberglass). ABS is a tough, flexable material for a while but over time in the sun ,heat, etc. it loses its plastizers and gets hard and brittle, hence the cracks. If it were me, I'd seal the cracks and try to keep them water tight. Other than that, Hooty wouldn't sweat'um.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
