Have 99 5.0GL with Holley 2300 2bbl card. Went to rebuild and bought kit from Sierra. Had everything fine, BUT did not have the correct accelarator pump! Come to find out, Holley normally puts 30cc pumps on these carbs but the 4bbl could have a 50cc pump - which is what I have on mine! (this boat was bought used and the previous owner didn't take care of it so who knows what the guy did) Now I am concerned with the adjustment for the pump since the larger pump moves the lever to a different position as needed to adjust per manual.

Question is, if I leave pump as is, does anyone forsee any problems if I cannot adjust pump exactly as stated in the manual?

I have rebuilt several carbs and am familiar with process but never run into this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Holley 2300 accelerator pump help

I have seen that on more than one post right here on this board. Based on those posts it would seem that a lot of the Holley 2300 2bbl marine carbs seem to have the 50cc pump installed. And based on the experiences of some of those post-er's that after they figured out the parts to use that it should work fine when adjusted properly.

There is your first mistake. There is always SOMETHING wrong with a Sierra carb kit, Always.

Get the right parts, adjust it to the proper OEM service manual, and it should work if everything else is ok.

Re: Holley 2300 accelerator pump help

dont blame it on the kit, a 30cc and a 50cc use a different housing, the diaphram and the housing must match . I set holley pumps by holding the throttle wide open, then check the clearance between the cam and the arm, about .030 . if you have the housing (cover) off check it to see if it is flat, they warp all the time, just put some emery cloth on a piece of flat glass and sand it flat.

sorry misread your post, just buy the correct pump diaphram, should be available seperately at any performance shop. this is not a dedicated marine part.
