Hey All - As a covid-19 project, I've been rebuilding an OMC 235/Ford 351 that had been sitting for about 10 years. Engine rebuild is complete and I'm trying to get the carb dialed in. The engine fires right up and then quickly dies due to carb flooding.

Any time the carb has fuel pressure, fuel dumps into the secondary side of the carb, in such quantity that you can hear it flowing/gurgling in there. I've just performed an entire rebuild on the carb including new float (which is adjusted properly) and needle/seat. The mechanical fuel pump is new and I've verified the pressure coming from the pump to be 5.5 PSI which should be fine. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Mine is a 2bl , I've never had a 4bl holley , but that sure sounds like a power valve. ( does a 4 barrell have 2 power valves IDK ? ) Mine was doing exact thing last year , pig rich when I could actually get it to run - Power valve was toast .

did you replace it during the rebuild ? Ive seen kits that come with power valves , and other kits that dont have them included.

I did replace the power valve as well. On this particular 4 bbl, the power valve is on the primary bowl side of the carb only, so the secondary side doesn't have one.

If it is just flooding on the secondary side there has to be something wrong with the needle&seat or float adjustment. Take your time and just go over the float chamber.

If you cant adjust the float (holley carbs have externally adjusted float settings), then spend the $6 and replace the needle and seat
