OK, it was a stupid thing to do. Having said that, first floor restoration project (obviously) on a 15 ft Titan Thundercraft, floor rotted throughout. Read some posts here on the subject, set my Skil Saw at the most shallow setting, started in the center and away I went. As I got closer to the port side, the saw "slipped" and suddenly I see the floor of my shop through about a 4" cut. I have absolutely no prior experience and intend to make this a winter project. What material is used to repair the hull? Do you patch inside and outside? Pardon my ignorance, learning (the hard way) as I go. Thanks for any help.

I guess I didn't do my homework....found a bunch of info on this topic, one being to just fill it with Marine-Tex, which sounds very attractive. If y'all agree, do I need to do the outside first or vice-versa? Thanks again!

If you have the floor up, I would add some glass to the patch from the inside. Take a grinder and feather the edges to expose fresh fiberglass and do the lamination fix like you found in the posts. Marine tex will work well, but there might be some gel coat issues if you want to do a gel coat patch on the outside. If you are painting it, epoxy like Marine Tex is a great way to go.

No sence in skimping on the fix now that you have the floor up.

Thanks Mark. The floor is 75% up, found that the stringers will need replacing as well. Looks like a crash couse in glasswork is in my future. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go along. Thank the powers that be for this forum!!

It's an easy fix, just glass over the area from the inside when you are glassing the stringers, then just do a cosmetic repair on the outside. You do need to sand it very well first though.

Don't feel alone. I did the same thing...a 1" long blade cut through the bottom. The depth adjusting screw was loose. No big deal but it could have been worse.
