New Yamaha 175 v max. When installed by the dealer we had to remove the jackplate. It worked with the 135 optimax, but the prop was a 4 blade with a "lot" of aftermarket pitch added. What we did was to re-install the jackplate, (Bob's Machine Six inch) 2 inches lower than the previous mount. Had to add a 2" spacer to clear the sea star hydraulic ram. The boat is a 19' Silverking, before the change we ran 55 @ 5500 rpm. Now we are turning 6K, don't know the speed cause the motor speed pick-up is too high. No water pressure loss, the boat now blows through the porpois sp? stage, sits on the prop and flies. Glad I put the jackplate back it is a totally new experience. The prop is a yammy 21" pitch vented.

Re: Holy Shamoli !!!

try this
An important thing here is your starting place, here after referred to as Prop To Pad. Three blades need to be started at 3.5" below the pad and four blades need to be started at 3".

The best was to measure prop to pad is to park the boat on a level surface. Then level the trailer. Trim the motor straight up and down----or put a level on the cav plate and level it that way. Then take a measurement from the pad to the ground and a measurement from the center of the propshaft to the ground. The difference is your prop to pad measurement. Your pad is the area right below the drain plugs and thru hull fittings and you measure from the bottom center of that.

make sure your where the motor and pad are right to start with not to high or low, this helped me with my ranger
