Over the years I built 3 flat bottom wooded scows and going to try a third.

When riding full WOT I noticed fronts of scows go up and down while riding.

What would be best angle to get rid of this?

Common with a flat bottom design........ how big and what kind of power?

I am wondering if a step (as used in the older hydro's) would help but I am not a design person

Re: Home made scow front angle?

I want to go about 14 feet long with a 20hp merc.
more open angle should help.
Just wonder if theres a magical angle.

My last one was 11feet by 4 feet wide. Might go alittle less wide because need to brace floor alot because of buckling.

My friends going to cut me Real 2x2's 14-15' long... the tops have to be full length of boat to make it strong.

Bottom going with 3/4' plywood... and side maybe 1/2(can I go thinner)?

my last one I made all in 3/4 and kinda heavy.

Il post pics when I get started.

look at the glen-L boat site.

A 1/2" is plenty and even a 1/4" will work with the proper design.

Re: Home made scow front angle?

cool thx for tip.

I found this guy that made a 12footer with even thinner.

I might go with your idea... 3/4 plywood is 35$ a sheet here.

Motor brace il go with 2x6's all the ways down. I would rather screw into 2x6 then 2 3/4 plywoods glued together.

Dont think il figerglass pricy . Might just treat wood and paint.
