I'm rebuilding my drive on my Mercruiser Alpha I and trying to save on tools. I have decided to make my own for the reason being that I won't use them that much. These tools are not like automotive tools which i have in a range from 40 to 50 thousand dollars invested in them but I use them a lot. here is a pic of a upper retainer nut wrench that I made in about an hours time. My merc dealer wanted $70.00 bucks for this wrench. I'm going to make several other wrenches which i will save around $500.00. I will probably have to buy a gear shim tool since i can't find the specs on one.

Re: Home made tools

Great job, I too have over the years made many tools, Wrenches, pullers and such. Being in the ever changing automotive and maine businesses, you sometimes cant afford or even have access to the tool you need.

Then there is the senario that you have made a tool and then in a couple years, you see one for sale that looks exactly like the one you made.

Then there is the old addage, "I WISHI WOULD HAVE PATENTED THAT"!!!

Nice job.
