Homemade transom for long shaft?

I have a Long shaft motor on a Old sea nymph that takes a short shaft. I need to replace the transom on it anyway.
A) I was just wondering if it was possible to build the new transom to accommodate the long shaft?

B) If so How would I sturdy it up?
