Just put a 2009 Honda 200 on my 24-25FT Tritoon. The Propeller is a stainless steel 4 blade 14 1/4 x 17R. First test about 500-600 lbs in the boat WOT was 38-40mph turning 5000 rpms. Second Test was about 1200-1300 lbs in the boat and WOT was reduced to 28-30mph turning 4500 rpms. Not sure what is considered the sweet spot on this motor but believe I need to be turning 5500-6000 rpms wot. Any Suggestions??

Thanks
Charles

Re: Honda 200 - WOT Prop Help?

The motor should be turning closer to 6000 lightly loaded. But a 12" prop seems extreme and I wonder if the speed will hold up.
Did you work on weight placement and careful trim. If you didn't have any venting issues you may want to raise the motor a little
to a point just before venting becomes a problem.
Based on 40 mph and a 1.86 gear ratio your slip is a very low 7%
Even though a tritoon 7% seems very low. I wonder if all the figures are right.
is the speed by gps?

Re: Honda 200 - WOT Prop Help?

Just going by gauges on the boat. 12" Prop - I do not know anything about props but the Honda prop that is on it says 14 1/4 x 17R (4 blades). I was told that this boat previously had a 225 Mercury Optimax and was doing 55mph wot. I do not care as much about the wot speed as much as I care about getting into the power curve of the Honda and to do so I believe I need to be close to 6000 rpms.
