Does anyone own one of these outboards that doesn't shift proper?
Here is my story. I have a 2002. It runs great but when I go to take it out of forward and sometimes reverse it sticks. The dealer has been great. Honda came up with some Mickey mouse little brackets to help, had to change the throttle and shift cables to an upgraded less friction type of cable. When that didn't work the gave me a free Stainless prop which helped a little. I was told by me dealer that you can rest assured when it says Honda on the side. They will come with a better fix and take care of you. Well I talked a couple of friends into buying the same motor. The deal said the 2003's were fixed. Well they did work slightly better but still have the same shifting problem. You come into the dock and go to put the #@$@ motor into reverse and it stays in forward. There goes another scratch in the boat. Plus I also flatten a guys hand that was trying to prevent the boat from hitting the dock. Now I understand the 2005 models are completely different and the shifting problem is finally solved. When I asked my dealer when mind will be upgraded he said not enough people are complaining on the old ones now and your out of luck. Well I you have the same problem please post hear and call your dealer so we can be heard. The motor is more expensive than some of the cars they build and they want us to suck up there mistakes.
