honda 50 reverse problem

Hi. I have a 1998 honda BF 50. The motor will not go into reverse. I thought it might be the cable and I adjusted it all the way out. That did not work. I disconnected the cable and tried to move the shift lever by hand. Still could not get it into reverse. FWD and neutral work fine. The prop spins fwd slowly when in neutral. Not sure if that has anything to do with it? Thanks for the input.

Have you recently worked on your lower end?

No. I have not done anything to the lower end. I had some problems with my carbs and the idle was running pretty high just to keep the engine going. Could that have jammed it up? Thanks
