Hey guys,
I have a 2005 Honda 225 that has started this issue. The issue is when slowing down from high throttle setting, shifting into neutral the engine quits. No alarms, no lights it just shuts down. it will start right up, idle fine and no issues going from idle to full throttle. Just happens when slowing. If I am deliberate and pull power back very slowly from about 1500 rpm with no issues. I can go from high power setting to 1500 with no problems. Any thoughts?

Machine,
Thanks for the response. Good to know I'm not the only one. (I think lol). Hopefully it's not too serious.

Idle Air Control Valve, all EFI engines have at least one(I haven't seen more than one yet, but...)...guessing that Honda is using their 4 cyl auto engine on the outboards there should be one right after the throttle body.

The valve rapdily moves in and out to let more air or less air in after the throttle body,(the butterfly would be closed letting in little to no air). The computer constantley test the Air/Fuel (o2 sensor) ratio along with other sensors and adjusts the valve's position to keep the engine running.

They do get gummed up with carbon and stick, which makes for poor idling. Remove it and de-carbon it with either carb cleaner or throttle body cleaning.

Let us know the outcome.
