I have a broken off needle value in my top carb. What are my options here? If I remove the carb can I somehow remove the broken tip? I don't think drilling is an option. Should I just go look for a used or rebuilt carb? Or should I leave it alone. It idles rough and uses more gas I think.

Thanks

Re: Honda BF45 broke off needle valve

please let me know if you've made any progress. I too have the same problem. I was on this site looking for the same exact info for my 2000 BF50A.

He're is my issue. My fuel tank took on salt water which filled the carbs and float bowls, then was stored Unwinterized for 3 years. The salt buildup plugged every orifice in the 3 carbs. I removed them, boiled them in a pot 3 times, replaced just about every moving part. When it came to the tiny needle valve, the first head broke right off with the slightest pressure. So i left them be. Engine purrs, runs excelent at Wide open throttle. HOWEVER, when i slow back down to idle speed, the carbs seem to flood right out. Sputters like mad, and most of the time stalls. A quick drain of the bowls, and Im back underway.......I
m guessing around the needle valve is still clogged and not letting in the correct amount of air???
Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Mark

I didn't even try I bought 3 re-built carbs and I took it into the shop on Monday.

I'll let you know what becomes of it and I will ask the mechanic if the needle value can be drilled or pulled.

BE careful about running WOT with broken needle values. I've been told that can sorch the pistons.
