honda BF50 year 2000 model rpm tach idle problem

ok so it's my first ever 4 stroke

engine runs fine, idels fine, but just hooked up faria tach and reads 2100rpm at idle, turn the idle screw out and drops to 1900 and below and shudders and cuts out, viabrates alot

the setting on the tach is set to setting 2 - which is 6 pole 3 pulse, IS ITS CORRECT??

any ideas?

Not sure if you checked the web site for Faria but this may help to ensure you have correct settings. Good luck.
