Honda BF75A

I'm redoing the lower seals in my Honda BF75A and have a concern reguarding the proper way to re-install the shift cam. The repair manual that i'm using says to ensure that the numbers on the cam are facing down and the illustration shows the cam with numbers stamped on it. My delima is that my cam also has the word ( UP ) stamped above the numbers ! " This is not shown in the manual" Do I put the cam with the word UP and the numbers facing UP or follow the direction given in the manual. someone PLEASE HELP.
