I have a 5.5 hp honda motor on the pressure washer. The last time I used it the engine quit, a milky looking substance was coming out of the air filter. Then when I was checking it out the rope was locked.

Any suggestions?

I took the spark plug out and the same milky stuff came out of the hole. Then I changed oil.
Still no luck. ????

Thank you in advance.

I cant help here but you might check this place out. They deal exclusivly with small engine repair. They have a few threads on power washers but you will be better off asking your question there. small engine repair

HSK, check to see if the crank case is over full. I had a honda powered pump here that had a dirty needle and seat in the carb. that allowed all the gas from the tank to run into the oil. thats what it sounds like to me. the honda tamper I borrowed also did the same thing. EDIT: never mind what I wrote, you already said you changed the oil.

Thanks.
I did change the oil. But when I attempted to start the thing it did not start and the rope froze again. I will check the float and needle.
If I can find a metric 10 socket.

Why did we agree to change to metric anyway?

Take spark plug out and try pulling rope then to clean cylinder out.
If you don't, it might not start at all.

Re: HONDA pressure wahser

We use the Honda 5.5s on our pest pumps, and on occasion the needle will stick and the crank case fills with gas. You are supposed to shut off the fuel after every use using the shut-off, to prevent this from happening, and we usually do, but sometimes a person forgets. The end result usually is not milky though, it is just a lot of thinned oil. There should be no reason why water would get into the crankcase unless someone has been power washing the motor itself, a big no-no. Drop the bowl, float, and needle, clean the needle and seat, reassemble. Drain crankcase, pull plug, and pull the cord to clear any fluid out. Put new oil in, new plug, start, and let run for about ten minutes. Drain oil and replace with new oil again, and remember to always shut off the fuel after use. Good luck...
