Hey Everyone. Question to ask. Don’t know if this has been done before. I have converted to electric choke on my Mercruiser 120. I was wondering if I can install a punch button to engage the choke and when I release the button the choke opens? Just wondering if anyone has done this. Thanks in advance. Also if I decide to just go with the 12v wire from ignition I plan to run a dedicated wire from the switch and not tap into the purple wire.

Ayuh,........ Why,..??..??..??

If the auto-choke is workin' properly, none of yer plan is necessary,......

'n a push-button won't close an electric choke,.....

Power to an electric choke heats the element, 'n Opens the choke,......

The action of goin' to Wot sets the cold choke,.....

Ahh gotcha. Wasn’t sure. I will leave it alone and just hook it up the way it should be. Was just thinking it would be cool to have a button to close the choke and warm up the engine on a cold start and let go to open it up.

you are confusing technologies..... you are thinking of an enrichening system like on an outboard where when you hold the button in, a solenoid allows extra fuel to be sprayed in.

the bi-metal spring on your carb nearly fool proof (once set properly). once you are adjusted properly, your cold starting is one pump to prime the engine and set the choke, have throttle at about 25% (in neutral) and turn key. after a minute, return throttle to 0%
