Boat is an '89 and the motor is an '84 Johnson 115 (J115TLCRD). As I continue to put this boat back together (previous owner pretty much had just the steering and throttle working), I'm now on to the tachometer. I know the boat had a blown powerhead at some point over the years, thus the reason for the older engine. Apparently the old one used to be a Suzuki because there are 2 Suzuki gauges and the wire harness still bears the brand name. The boat has a tachometer on the dash, but the PO had cut the wires (I suspect after the powerhead swap).
Anyway, I can't tell if the PO clipped the tach signal from the wire harness or if he just never ran it from the new motor. I have a half-moon shaped female plug that is not plugged in to anything on the powerhead. I'm not sure if I need to run wire from here or if I can tap in and run it from the control box. What do I need to be looking for?
