Been wondering.. Could I hook a waterhose to the intake hose and run the engine with the outdrive off? Seems like it would work...

Does the same work using a flushing tee in one of the smaller hoses?

from experience, you need to start the engine before turning on the water. and shut the water off before turning your engine off. if you turn the water on and then start your engine you are in high risk of hydro locking your engine. then you have to pull the plugs and flush the cylinders of water and also change the oil and hope you get all the water out with one oil change! the impeller in the outdrive stops water from entering your system when it is not running. just speaking from experience. my experience was on an 88 omc cobra 305. good luck

It would be similar but you want to get water either into #18 (below lower left) OR the same hose on the inside(that goes to PS/oil coolers then to the t-stat) .

You could even bypass the oil/PS coolers and connect directly to the T-stat housing since you're not really going to run it long enough or work the power steering enough to get the oil hot.

Just buy yourself a cheap ball valve so it's easy to turn on & off right at the engine instead of having to jump out of the boat (and possibly hurt yourself!!)
