Re: Hop Ups

Not much that could be done with a Chevette, either. :( ;)

I get a chuckle every time I see a Pro Series Bass Tracker. Kinda like an Indy Chevette. ;) :D

They did have a Race 135 Chrysler once upon a time. I worked on one. Loud SOB! Shot the exhaust right out of the back of the hood. The owner kept getting noise tickets. And every time he idled down for the Slow-No-Wakes, it blew the head gasket. Talked to a rep and he said there was nothing that could be done about it. Something to do with port timing.

You might try a different prop, but there aren't many offerings for those. Mounting the motor higher on the transom might also get you another mph or two.

Re: Hop Ups

You might get a jack plate and fine tune the verticle height. If you can raise the motor an inch you could gain as much as 3 mph.On some motors the mount is set up so you can adjust the verticle height. And of course you could find a performance prop.

Re: Hop Ups

Yea jackplate is what im thinking prop already oversize.would really like to play with port timmings can do a lot of things grinding the port but would like to have some guide lines to go by.I do chain saw engines for my r/c boats for racing using Zenoha engines change port timing as much as 30 deg for an awsome performance gains takes a 2.5 hp eng to about 3-3.5hp makes it a killer to pull start to though.By the way im already 1" above the pad how much more you think it can stand and how much set back recommended?
The boat is a procraft 1540 shallow V hull weighs 950 lb engine 325-350 2livewells and 3 batteries plus fishing gearprobably 15-1600 lbs loaded running 13.5x17p michigan prop runs 36 mph by gps 5000 rpm it get right up on the pad and is stable about 5 foot rooster tail going on.anymore suggestion welcome.
