Re: Horn doesn't stop honking

If you have the regular control box that encases the horn, you may have simply grounded the horn somehow. With the horn sounding (beeping steady), remove the TAN wire from the horn.

If removing that TAN wire causes the horn to stop beeping, then I would suspect that the TAN wire is grounded at some point between the horn and the engine... or withing the engine compartment.

If the horn continues to beep with that TAN wire removed, then the horn is faulty.

Thanks for your reply!

I heard that the horn is also honking if there is a problem with the temperature of the engine!
Can there be a problem with the temperature sensor, too?
How can i check this out?

Unplug the tan wire from the temp. sensor on the motor. If the beeping stops, the sensor is faulty...

Thanks everybody for your replies and help!

I found the reason of the problem.
-> The horn was connected to purple wire(12V), TAN wire and to ground!
After disconnecting the ground wire from the horn everything worked perfectly!

It sounds like you just took the horn out of the system rather than having it wired properly. If so, the only warning you'll receive if the engine overheats is when the powerhead seizes up and screeches to a halt.

I checked this out before!
I put the TAN Wire that was connected to the temperature sensor to ground and it sounded!
Was this correct?

If you removed the short black ground wire from the horn, and the horn stopped sounding then, the electronics inside the horn are bad.

You say when you ground out the temp switch the horn sounds like it should, then it is still operational, but you do not have any "self test" feature to let you know that the alarm system is OK when you turn the key on.
