I have recently aquired an inline 6 mercury outboard that has both 115hp and 150hp decals on the cowling. It has had the powerhead replaced in the middle 80's. Can somebody tell me the hp and year by the following info:

S/N 3763869P
Carbs #1395-5260
Engine Casting 948-6262

Glastron, The 150HP model had radical porting and transfer port covers, compared to the 115HP model. If you find the part number cast into the transfer port covers, you may be able to look it up at the www.dougrussell.com site. The other numbers (casting from block and carb) were not matchable(at least by me) to a particular model.

Glastron, You can also remove a transfer cover and inspect the piston skirt. If there is a round hole just below the rings, it is the "Power Port" piston, used in the 150HP model. No hole means not 150HP, but doesn't prove it is the 115 HP model. It could also be the 90HP model.

I also found a receipt for the long block; the part number is 8625/A78
