hi guys, new to this board, just took the boat out for it's inaugural summer run, engine fired up nicely, no problem there, idled okay, accelerated okay, the problem i had was when i tried to open up the throttle, the engine kinda missed a bit, sounded like it was trying, but it couldn't get to full throttle, it never conked out, just felt like it missed a bit, i checked the plugs and they look good, checked the fuel filter too, and that looked decent, any other thoughts? or other things to look at? thanks

Try to pump the primer bulb and see if it picks up. I think the fuel pump needs a new diaphraghm. Or the carb needs a good cleaning.

bear, thanks, i checked the diaphragm (the one inside the fuel filter right?), and it looked alright, no tears, cracks, nothing, however, within the fuel filter, i found the plastic pic that is inside the smaller spring located near the top of the filter, to be bent and not acting smoothly, i replaced the plastic pin (don't know the real name of this, sorry) with another one from my parts engine, and so we'll try this, my guess is that the pin wasn't responding smoothly, causing the spring to act up, and therefore cause a disruption in the gas flow, any other thoughts? thanks

Fuel pump

I can't see where this plasic pin is, but if you have an air leak in the fuel supply, that is bad too.

bear, that drawing you sent is accurate, but only to a point, i took the filter apart (#1 in the drawing), and that is where the plastic pic is, is there a test to check for air along the gas line or whatever?
