Trying to get my boat water ready. I fired up my 188 Mecruiser twice and the oil was golden. Tried to lake test it was able to reeve the engine to WOT but no go going forward pulled boat out of water.

Now the oil looks like coffee and pulling the #8 spark plug showed a bead of water on the electrode. Also when I pulled the log style exhaust port side manifold water came out of the #8 exhaust port. Have drained oil and put new oil in

Was able to acquire two Barr Marine FM-1-83 Exhaust manifolds with risers, that look like they have never been installed.

Have been trying to locate either a hose diagram or some photo's that show the run of the hoses for a Barr's setup.

I'm also wondering if I'll need to rebuild the engine?
It still cranks smooth and has decent pressure.
Have drained oil and put new oil in. If I can replace manifolds will cycle and drain a couple more times.

raw water cooled - hoses exit the thermostat housing to bottom front of manifold. from there the water flows upward and out the elbow with the exhaust. two top ports plugged

fresh water cooled - glycol enters the bottom of the manifold in the back, and exits the front - top of the manifold and returns to the system. there is a block-off gasket between teh manifold and the elbow. the discharge of the heat exchanger is then plumbed to the elbows.
