Hose Type Substitution for Tell Tale Reroute?

I will be doing the full tell tale mod at a later date based on this:

But for now, I just want to reroute mine, and will need to buy new hose (I think mine is currently 5/16" inside diameter, though it looks like 3/16" or 5/16" might work).

Do I need to use one of the official OMC parts like 0327721, or can I use something from Home Depot or the Auto Parts store? I am assuming the water could get fairly warm, therefore the clear vinyl tubing is probably a bad idea. This is a Johnson 70 1989.

Just looking for something I can get locally this week, and not overpay.

I use 3/16" fuel line, no need to get fancy here.

Cool. I have some 5/16" fuel line. If that doesn't fit, I will pick up some 3/16" from the auto parts store.

I think sheep urethra will do just fine.

I clearly am still learning how all this stuff works...I assumed the water could get hot.

Sheep urethra is not rated for ethanol. I recommend Tygon.

Seriously...Tygon 4040 is good stuff. Try it sometime.
