Guys went out to the water and ran my rebuilt engine. Worked great, however I had a problem with hot horn. I realize its got a job to do and all, however on mine as soon as I started it it went off and stayed on. Well after a 5-6 minutes it stopeed. MY engine wasn't hot to touch and actually felt very cold. Then it happened. Smoke started to come out of control box and I was like oh crapt. I unhooked the battery and then proceeded to take the box apart on the water. Well the hot horn was so hot it burnt a place in the leather glove I was wearing like a brand. It shorted out the fuseable link in the engine harness. I'm thinking it shorted out, do you all think the same?

Also having trouble with idle. I know this is popular and just need to know if I have more than one adjustment for idle besides the idling screw itself? It will do great when I set it on the water and then all of a sudden dtarts sputtering and dies. I know taht the jets are fixed, however is there any kind of muxture screws on the carbs that are adjustable to obtain good idle?

Re: Hot Horn

You need to take the carbs apart, soak in cleaning solvent, make sure all ports are clear and blow dry with air, then re-assemble.

Okay got the hot horn replaced and works fine.

However I took everything back apart and re cleaned it and I'm still having the same troubles. I did do the rebuild kit initially and this engine still is not idling right. Sicne the jets are fixed waht adjustments do I have and any more reccomendations are very much needed. I know there are air jets, ut can you adjust theses
