Red nav light on my bow is significantly hotter than the green.Anything to look for inside the light??? Or just replace it. Led is not supposed to me hot.Anyone experience the same?? Charlie

not much of a electrical trouble shooter but would a wiring issue be the likely culprit?

if it produces light, it produces heat.

many of the LED bulbs also have a voltage regulator (power resistor) to drop voltage to the LED to be used in a 12 volt system. that also produces heat

the LED work lights we use at work actually generate about the same heat as their incandescent halogen predecessors (requiring a heat sink)

how hot are we talking?

A properly sized LED running in a 12v system should not generate much heat at all. Most run 90-95% efficient compared to 5-10% for incandescent bulbs

Check to make sure the wattage is the same in both bulbs. Had a customer replace a LED warning light on our system and crowbarred the power supply feeding the lamps. Almost 3x current draw of OEM bulb

Check the fixture to make sure the contacts are clean.

LED are diodes. Wired backwards = no work
