Hello,
I was just curious as how would one hotwire a 1986 35 hp Force. I have omc ignition that was being used for a 1985 force. So I was thinking I could use it for my 35hp force.

I can ohm out the switch and figure out the contacts, but I need to know what wires should be connected in the on position, and the off position. I can figure out the Start and choke part of it.

I looked in my Clymer Manual and it just shows where the wires go on the switch and not which ones are connected when.

I have a blue magneto wire.
A white magneto wire.
These two wires would go the the two M's if I was using a normal switch. I don't have another switch to compare it to.

A hot wire of course.
Green for choke.
Yellow for start.
And the purple I am not using as I do not have a tach.

So what should the magneto wires be connected to when it is running? When it is off?

Any help would be appreciated for knowing what wires should be making contact in the off and on positions.

I already know that when I turn it to start the Power and yellow should contact. I know that when I push the key in the Power and Green wire should contact, for the Choke. But about those magneto wires??

Anybody????

Re: Hot wiring a 1986 35hp force

The two magneto wires will connect to each other when the key is off.

Look on page 582 of the Clymer manual.

When the key is off, the wires are connected, and the ignition is grounded out, no spark, so the engine stops.

So with the key off , battery disconnected, check for continuity. The only 2 that have continuity should be your "m" terminals.

Thanks a bunch Roscoe. I think You've probably answered just about every Force question I've had, and I appreciate it.

Not many come here to the Force forum to offer any help, and I have no life, so I do it. :)

All is well with my ignition.

However, as usual, I have another problem that I posted as well. :-( LOL
