Hour Meter Question... Key left on for 29.4 hours

Had the boat at the Dealers for service and they left the key on for 29.4 hours... the battery was almost dead... I could hear the radio playing faintly when I walked up to it.

My boat only had 30 hours on it and now shows 59.4 from leaving it there overnight and picking it up after work the next day.

Can the meter be reset, should I replace it or just leave it alone knowing the hours do not reflect actual run time?

The meters are non re-settable but....
If it's a mechanical meter you can reverse the polarity and run it backwards for 29.4 hours if it damages it for some odd reason (never seen this happen). Get a new meter and hook it to a battery for 30 hours the install it.

I'd forget about it personally. I've always called them "key on meters." If it really bothers you, try to reverse the polarity or get a new one as suggested.

Or just unhook it for 29.4 hours. ..or just unhook it until you sell it 15 years later and say "ONLY 50 HOURS!!!" like 1/2 the people on craigslist.
